Brilliant Tapestry of Women's Voices

Excerpt from Chapter 5 of :

Spices in the Melting Pot
Life Stories of Exeptional
South Asian Immigrant Women

“The CEO has the ultimate responsibility; the company cannot end up in a mess because of one person unless that person is the CEO. So the buck stops here, as they say. That is also the ultimate satisfaction of this job. If things are not happening, I always look within myself and ask myself what am I not doing right. To do that for fifteen years is a long haul. It is not something you do for one day and forget about it. We are not super humans; we might make mistakes, which is acceptable. We have to accept the mistakes and go on.”

As a woman entrepreneur, former CEO, and current chairwoman of a company she founded, Vinita is aware she is in a highly visible position. She remembers a female boss she once had who taught her that a woman can be herself and still be accepted in the corporate world. She doesn’t have to behave like a man.
